The Blemish and Beyond: Recognizing Skin Lesions in the Treatment Room

Mon, Mar 8 | 02:30 PM - 04:00 PM
Room 1E08

Session details:

Skin lesions can be challenging to identify, especially when several conditions share a similar appearance.

This visually focused presentation will help aesthetic professionals sharpen their observational skills and better differentiate commonly confused lesions, including milia, syringomas, sebaceous hyperplasia, and xanthelasma.

Attendees will explore the defining characteristics, common locations, underlying causes, and visual clues associated with each condition, while also reviewing benign, precancerous, and potentially cancerous lesions encountered in practice. Emphasis will be placed on recognizing important warning signs, understanding when to avoid treatment, and knowing when to refer a client for medical evaluation.

Participants will leave better equipped to assess the skin confidently, make safer treatment decisions, and communicate concerns while remaining within their professional scope of practice.
