Susanne Schmaling is an internationally recognized licensed master esthetician, author, educator, and compliance strategist with over 30 years of experience. She is the founder of the Esthetics Council, where she leads national initiatives to protect estheticians’ rights, elevate education, and align practice with evolving regulations.

Susanne is one of us—an esthetician who built her career behind the treatment table and transformed that experience into a mission to protect and uplift the profession. She understands the realities of spa and med spa life, and her work reflects the challenges and opportunities estheticians face every day. She has written extensively for Skin Inc., American Spa, and MedEsthetics, focusing on safe and effective use of advanced modalities like microneedling, LED therapy, and chemical peels. She’s also the co-founder of Skindex Labs, a digital skin analysis platform combining AI with expert consultation.
